The process of taking the complex and making it
simple is complex..............
When every step appears to be the most important
step, how does one decide how to start?
For the novice, utilizing tried and true
approaches is best.
I Address Preliminary Questions:
WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE
HOW, WHY
II Write a Creative Brief:
Know my client, my competitors,
my audience, my goals
III Persona:
Are there special situations/populations
that need to be
addressed in my design to accommodate
the user?
IV Prototypes:
sitemaps, blueprints, models etc...
CONSIDERATIONS I would add......
Are we on budget?
Are we on schedule?

Thank you for breaking it down into an easy to understand diagram. I think 4 W's are so important and you've clearly stated that. You've taken what was written in the text book and made it into something that easy to understand. Something I forgot to mention in my post was the budget, which you have mentioned. I've dealt with designers who have carelessly gone over budget by thousands of dollars, so as any designer should, they should be respectful of a clients money and time. If not, the last think a client would want to do is to work with someone who is careless about their clients money and time.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and font of your blog. I also loved how you broke down the process into step by step bullets. I was having a little trouble trying to understand our book but this makes things a little easier to understand!
ReplyDeleteLike the steps, well all but Step 3. I might have a thing against the number 3 I don't know. At any rate your post was concise, just the way I like my information.
ReplyDeleteI like your categories for approaching a design project, very simple and straight forward, however I feel that you may want to expand on each category by explaining why each is important to the project and how each may change your approach. Only other issue I find about your blog design is you may also want to widen the center area so you can fit more words per line. some of the bullets are hard to follow because they skip to the next line. Again, no criticism meant just suggestions.
